There are many nicknames to call the Gorges of Tarn near the French city Millau : heaven on earth, the peaceful paradise, nature masterpiece…. Thanks to its wonderful cliffs, the place has been becoming a world top spot of climbing. On June 22nd, 23rd and 24th, 500 climbers will invest the place for the international festival of climbing: the Roc Trip.
The famous event makes its come back in France. Petzl, the historical partner of the festival is coming back in forth with the French Climbing Club of Millau (CAF Causses et Cévènes ). It’s a return to basics for this event as the first editions have been setting up in Millau in 2002, 2004, 2006 and then in 2008 and 2009.
The principle of the Roc Trip is very simple: gathering passionate climbers around the world for 3 days of rock climbing, discovery, chill and sharing in a friendly atmosphere. With more than 500 routes from 5b to 9a, every climbers will be pleased.
All participants will be gathered in a typical French village: Saint Rome de Dolan, balcony which overhangs splendidly the Gorges of Tarn.
The compulsory registration is necessary to take advantage of accommodation, restoration and animations set up.
On the economic and touristic plan, the Roc Trip has to revitalize the climbing spot as the attendance decreased during the past period of maintenance and re-equipment
The project follows the previous actions that have been set up: approach of joint management of the site, re-equipment of more than 200 routes in 2012, publication of the new topo of the Gorges of Tarn. It has to be a tool of promotion for the site, but also a valuation of the committed actions and the raising awareness of climbers to the respect of the place and its environment.
More widely, the Roc Trip is a barometer and a clock of the climbing world. It takes the temperature and set things straight! The sustainable development and sensitization of the participants to the environmental problems will be priority axes of the event.
By his registration every climber commits to respect the environmental aspect of the site and follow the ecological ethic of the event.
